SWITCHBOARDS

The nerve centre of the electrical installation, what condition is yours in?

Rcd’s or safety switches have become mandatory in all new houses as well as now needing to be retrofitted in all homes. Basically fuses and circuit breakers are designed to stop overloading and short circuits they will not however stop an electrocution only a properly installed and tested Rcd is designed to stop that from happening. Do you have Rcd’s on all light and power circuits and just as important do they work?

Overloading is occurring more often, particularly in older houses which did not allow for the many appliances we now find in our kitchens garages and laundries. If you can’t run the dishwasher, washing machine and kettle without blowing a fuse or circuit breaker we can help. What we need to do is generally split the circuit which is overloaded into two circuits which eliminates the risk of starting a fire in the back of your switchboard or in the roof at a cable junction due to the cable overheating.

Meter or switchboard relocation is another service we offer. Whether you are renovating the front porch or enclosing your property with a brick wall it is possible that you may have to relocate your meter or switchboard or both. This does require some planning but can be achieved with relative ease and with the power off less than a day.

Surge Protection

Don’t just buy an expensive power board that only protects one power pointing your house, call us and we can fit an overvoltage/surge arrestor in the switchboard which will protect all of your electrical equipment throughout the house.
